“A Thorn’s Rose” – A Sapphic Human/Non-Human Romance/Erotica Anthology

Hello everyone, I’m very excited to announce my inclusion in an anthology that is now open for pre-orders! “A Thorn’s Rose” is an NSFW collection focusing on love and sex between human and non-human women, curated by Dae Storm and contributed to by myself and eight other authors for a total of ten stories, five to ten thousand words each.

My story – ten thousand words long – focuses on Jen, a young woman moving away from home to college who hopes to find confidence in herself and her sexuality. She is shocked to discover the existence of a giant moth-like creature visiting the old, small house on the outskirts of town that she’s able to afford – fear gives way to intrigue, interest, friendship, and eventually romance.

Being part of this anthology is very exciting to me: it’s only the second time I’ve been selected to be part of a group publication like this, and I’m excited to be working alongside such a range of other authors from ones with dozens of titles under their belt to ones who’ve never been published before!

The stories in “A Thorn’s Rose” run a wide range in terms of content, prose style, focus, and of course choice of monster/non-human: from poetically-inspired flowery phrasing to sizzling, simmering sexual tension; from established relationships to developing ones to first meeting hook-ups; from sweet and gentle to scintillatingly sharp, but every razor has its uses, does it not? And mightn’t its edge excite, caressing the skin?

These stories are fun, and cover such a broad range of content that I genuinely think there’s a bit of something for everyone in here.

Want to read about a woman working through some shared grieving tenderly with a new friend who grows to become a lover? Got it.

Want to read about an established relationship tenuously taking a step into further commitment? Got that too, a couple of ways.

Want to read about a wedding, thronged with family, where the sister of the groom and the host get together? Yup.

Snarky back-and-forth? Yep. Sly seduction? Yeah. Shared grieving? You betcha. Longing looks? Uh-huh. Slow explorations? Yes. Leaping in with both feet? Oh yeah. Sex? Definitely. Friendships, established relationships, hook-ups, situationships, developing relationships? Hell yeah.

There’s sweetness, silliness, slyness and snark, salacious and sensual sexuality, and even some things that don’t start with “S”. Some.

My story focuses on the development of a new relationship, and I don’t want to give away too many spoilers, but let me say that I was allowed 10,000 words as the limit with a maximum 200 word variance – meaning a grand total cap of 10,200 words – and I definitely needed it!

My first draft was 15k. I came up with a lot more for this story, and there will come a day that I’ll turn it into a full novel instead. My guess would be about 120k words. It’ll be a while, though – I think what’s here, the short story, is good on its own. It has a solid focus, a purpose, devotes a good degree of attention to the relationship developing and showing sweetness and tenderness, whilst still not being afraid to throw a couple hefty dashes of hot sauce into the script; there’s one masturbation scene and one sex scene, and I think they’re both fun. I think the whole thing’s fun.

I suppose it only makes sense that I would – after all, I wrote it!

Pre-orders are open now at various sellers, and the book will be released on July 8.
